Middle School Principal
I graduated from a small high school in 1997, Horatio High in Horatio, Ar. After graduating I attended Cossatot Community College in De Queen where I earned an Associate of Arts Degree. Next, I went on to Henderson State University in Arkadelphia where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. After teaching for several years I attended Arkansas State University twice where I earned two different masters degrees. My last educational accomplishment to date was in 2017 when I completed the program of study for building level administration with a concentration in Principal’s Licensure. I am currently enrolled again at AState, working on my Education Specialist Degree. I hope to graduate in 2021.

I began my teaching career here in Decatur. I taught Kindergarten for five years, first grade for one year and second grade for four years. After 10 years in the classroom I became the English Language Director for the school district. During this time I developed a passion for working with teachers as well as students. After completing my administrator’s licensure I became the Elementary School Dean of Students and then was named K-8 Assistant Principal. I currently work at the middle school building level (5th-8th grades) as the building principal.
My husband Tate and I have been married for 22 years. We have four beautiful children ages 21, 16, 13 and 11. The oldest is trying to manage adulting. She is in college, studying to be a high school English teacher and works at an area bank. The 16 and 12 year old kids are in cheer and football so most of their time is devoted to school work, sports practices and games. The eleven year old keeps us busy with his love for the outdoors and “creating things” out of whatever materials he can find.
We have a two dogs, Hazel and Saber and 2 cats, Cher and Oscar. The fur babies are a fun addition to our busy life.
The world of education is a busy one for sure and I love every minute of it. When I am not working, I enjoy running (this helps me clear my mind and recharge/refocus), reading educational leadership books, taking short road trips and camping/boating with the family. If the word beach is involved and the time allows, you might find my toes in the sand.
